Tom Fairbrother, Owner: I sometimes think back to my Grade 10 yearbook
where I had written under future goals "self employed" and realize
that it was a glimpse into the future. I worked as a delivery
person, blue printer & taxi driver for a number of years before
starting my first business, a mobile music company which played at
parties & weddings. After doing that for almost 8 years I
started a lawn care/gardening business which operated for about 7
years until in 1997 I took the opportunity to buy a Power Equipment
store in Vancouver called Dunbar Equipment & Sharpening. In
1998 I took over Don Dickey Supplies in Richmond and closed the
Vancouver store. Operating Don Dickey Supplies has been more
challenging than I could have imagined, but having overcome many of
the challenges associated with taking over a demanding business, I
feel proud of the final product
we now offer our customers.

Hoshang Udwadia, Senior Technician: I joined the company back in 1995 (Dunbar
Equipment) as an apprentice mechanic. Having immigrated to
Canada from India a number of years ago, I have utilized my previous
experience as an automotive technician, air conditioning specialist
and shop manager, and applied those same principles & work ethics to
the small engine industry. More recently I have become
certified as a Journeyman Small Engine Technician through the B.C.
Government Outdoor Power Equipment Training program. My
philosophy is to do the job properly the first time and to do it
quickly so that the customer waits as short a time as possible and I
believe in almost all instances I am able to achieve this standard.

Darren Lochbaum, Sales Manager:
I joined Don Dickey Supplies at the beginning of 2005 and have
become familiar with many of the regular customers and their
specific needs and have learned many of the aspects of selling
outdoor power equipment to homeowners and commercial users. I
began in the industry more than 20 years ago working for Sears in
their automotive department. I also worked part-time operating
a gardening business. Having received some mechanical training
with Sears, I made my way into the tool & seasonal department as a
salesperson where I worked for 15 years & only recently left to work
for the Bay for a short time. Now working at Don Dickey
Supplies, I am pleased to be utilizing my many years of experience
in the industry to assist customers of Don Dickey Supplies in
assessing their needs and supplying the right equipment for them.
